To the Citizens of the School District of Rhinelander:
Over the past 5 years the School District of Rhinelander has been in a very challenging position. Budget levels as mandated by the State have stayed roughly the same while fixed expenses have risen sharply. These expenses include salaries, health insurance, transportation, etc. So how has the District been meeting the budget? By reducing staff, cutting programs, delaying building repairs and closing inefficient schools. There has been no opportunity to factor in spending for improvements.
Now we have that opportunity. Debt that is already on the tax rolls will be retired by next fiscal year. By replacing that debt obligation we can fund nearly all of the improvements identified in our 3 year strategic planning assessment. This comprehensive analysis addresses critical needs that will bring Rhinelander education into the competitive modern era. Obviously we want to provide a quality education for our children which in turn helps define our community.
As we all know the very first question for any family moving to Rhinelander is "How are the schools?" Healthy, thriving schools equates to healthy, thriving community. So we ask you to "Vote Yes" to our referendum questions on April 1st. Our kids will benefit, we all will benefit. The opportunity is now.
